Have you ever had anyone to get on your last nerve? We all have! But I remember a powerful statement from a very strong message from my Pastor some years ago. He said, “No one can get on your last nerve because every part of you belongs to the Lord and if you have given your life to the Lord, your job is to make Him Lord over every last one of your nerves.” Needless to say, I was convicted. Here’s a question for all of us…Does the Lord rule and reign in your life? Most of the time we can tell by how we react to a hurt or disappointment verses how we respond to those same situations with the fruit of the spirit. Fruit carries a ton of nutrients…especially the Fruit of the Holy Spirit. I love the Passion Translation of Galatians “But the fruit[a] produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all its varied expressions: joy that overflows, peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness in action, a life full of virtue, faith that prevails, gentleness of heart, and strength of spirit. Never set the law above these qualities, for they are meant to be limitless.” Whew!!! Did you feel the conviction? Don’t be in denial! We are all guilty of not carrying the powerful fruit of the Holy Spirit, ESPECIALLY during this climate of change and challenges. While we are asked to practice social distancing to protect our bodies, let’s also keep and protect our souls with the nutritious fruit of the spirit.
